The True to Life series has a responsive communicative style, which is a fresh and innovative
approach to studying English. It relies predominantly upon student communication, with immediate spoken use
of forms introduced: grammar, vocabulary, and/or conversational phrases. It differs from more
traditional textbooks, in that it isn't divided strictly between written exercises and reading, but it
allows the student to experiment with the structures within a self-discovery atmosphere of speaking.
The "Personal Study Workbooks" which accompany the textbooks are also organized in a student-discovery manner, with exercises revising grammar points in dialogues, and additional vocabulary within the focal unit topic. There are also two cassette levels, or versions, for nearly every listening activity - a shorter, clear level and a more difficult "natural" level, which can be adapted in the classroom for intensive comprehension practice. The subject matter within the entire series deals mainly with real-life situations and incorporates authenitic language used in everyday English.
As a whole, the series is completely and comprehensively designed for communication.
